[Solved] Converting .odt to .doc?

Post by BloggsF »

I'm not sure whether a letter with .odt extension can be read by people I email who don't have Open Office. I've tried converting them to the .doc extensions in the Save popup but they don't convert the heading which contains a graphic. What should I do to get a proper conversion to the latest .doc/Word format?

Send them the document using Export as PDF, choosing PDF/A-1a on the general tab of the Export dialog. They won't be able to edit it, but that is usually what one wants with a letter

See [Tutorial] Differences between Writer and MS Word files for possible reasons and why you should always work in and save files as .odt.
LO 6.4.4.2, Windows 10 Home 64 bit

See the Writer Guide, the Writer FAQ, the Writer Tutorials and Writer for students.

Remember: Always save your Writer files as .odt files. - see here for the many reasons why.
