Adding and removing footers in OpenOffice text document

Hi, when I remove footers from my text document then close the document the footers reappear next time I open it. Can anyone tell me how to stop the footers automatically reappearing?

Format in which you save the document? You cannot remove footer from just one page of a document, as footers appear on all instances of that Page Style. If you realy want to remove footers from all instances of a Page Style, uncheck Footers on the Footer tab of the Page Style.

If you wish to use footers on some pages, and not on others, you should study
[Tutorial] Page styles and headers/footers

and note that you _MUST_ use different Page Styles when headers or footers change unless the c0ontent is generated by Fields.

Thanks for the reply but I am trying to remove all footers from 37 pages. I go to page style, footers and then uncheck the footer box. All footers then disappear but when I close the document and reopen it all the footers come back. When I return to page style, footers I find the box has been checked again Is there some reason my removal of footers is being over ridden?

Format in which you save the document? If you are not already using it, use .odt

I am saving as a word document as this is compatible with my work colleagues' software. I will try using .odt and then change the finished document to word in order to email or share it. Many thanks

If that doesn't work, try changing to a different Page Style in the .odt file, which has never used footnotes, and then Save As in .doc format.

Note that versions of MS Word 2007 and later can read ad save in ,odt format, although Microsoft have not implemented the full .odt standard.
