Find an Replace Word Attributes (Boldface)

Post by Cliff S »

I would like to learn if it's possible to perform a find and replace of a repeated word in a document. Replace it with the same word with a changed attribute such as Boldface. Can Writer do this and how? Tnx

I understand that you want to find all occurrences of a word and apply some formatting to them. To do this with Find and Replace you will need to use the More Options part of the Find and Replace dialog, so open that up first. Type the word in the Search For box and then again in the Replace With box. With the cursor still in the Replace With box, click on the Format button and make whatever formatting choices you want. Click Replace All and the new formatting will be applied.
You can achieve the same thing by merely searching for the word using Find All. Every occurrence of the word will then be highlighted. You can then use the buttons on the formatting tool bar or, better, apply a character style to the selected text.
