[Solved] Wavy line under misspelling lost

Post by Siarach »

Since I changed from Vista to Windows 10, I no longer get the red wavy underline under misspellings. I used to get these automatically. How can I get this back? Siarach.

Start by renaming your OpenOffice user profile.

As you are using Windows close OpenOffice and the Quickstarter. Open File
Explorer. Copy and paste %appdata%\OpenOffice\4 in the File Explorer (sometimes called Windows Explorer)
Address Bar and press Enter. Rename the "user" folder - "user.old" is a
good choice. Start OpenOffice.

This cures most spellcheck problems.

Thanks for this I have done as suggested, but I am still not getting my wavy lines, but I am also getting next to no misspellings. Is it the case that my misspellings are corrected automatically? I think that the problem may be with my limited understanding of how things are supposed to work. What do the two Icons on the menu bar stand for, and how do you use them? Siarach

Spellings are not corrected automatically. If renaming the OO user profile didn't help, you need to work carefully through [Tutorial] Spell check and Language configuration

Have you toggled the spell icon?

If this solves the problem, please view your first post in this thread and click the Edit button (top right in the post) and add [Solved] in front of the subject.

Click the blue link.
Or see that one first: [Troubleshooting] Spell check in OpenOffice.
Edit: There was a typo in the address, I've corrected it (in original post and the quote of this post).
