[Solved] Lost documents

Post by Juls »

Good afternoon... I am missing all my recent files in open office... When I opened up OO Like normal, I had to sign in (never had to do that before).. Not sure if I didn't log in /sign in with correct info and that is why they are missing??? It's not THAT big of a deal except our budget is lost... I can redo it but don't want to screw anything up... Any ideas?

Ugh!

Maybe OP did an update and that is how I lost everything?!?

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Your profile seems to have been deleted. No big deal. You can make a backup of it just in case, see: [Tutorial] The OpenOffice User Profile.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the edit button if your issue has been fixed.

The Recent Documents list is merely that, a list of shortcuts to the documents. These documents are still on your computer, in the directory in which they were saved. If you use /File /Open you can navigate to that directory using the navigation button, then select each document in turn and open it. It will now re-appear on the Recent documents list.

I have no idea what I am doing... I went to the user profile tutorial but the instructions do not seem to be for Windows 8

Trying to find the hidden files... I am not looking at the recent documents... I click on open and the documents there are not the ones I need

Forget about the User Profile - it has been renewed. Find someone who knows more about computers and ask them to find your files, using /File/Open within OpenOffice; get them to open each one and you will have them all on your Recent Documents list.

The files are not in hidden folders. They are normally in the folder pointed to by /Tools /Options /OpenOffice /Paths : My Documents. If you can remember the name of one file, use the system File Search to locate it. Best to search only for part of the name, as if you don't specify the full name correctly, it won't be found..
