[Solved] Fill In PDF Forms

Post by marykc »

Welcome beginner. Please answer all of the questions below which may provide information necessary to answer your question.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Which version of OpenOffice.org are you using? 2.4
What Operating System (version) are you using? Windows XP
What is your question or comment?

I want to create forms that can be saved in PDF where you can fill in the information, print off the form but you can't save the information on the form. I know it can be done as our IT guru created them but he bailed ship and I have been struggling to get this figured out. We have several forms already created in Word and Excel that we need to get set up in this PDF format. Thank you in advance for any help with this.

As a workaround, you can fill in the form and print it as another PDF file with a virtual printer like PDFCreator. You can also try FoxitReader, its very powerful and perhaps you can save a filled form with the free version (not sure however).

Else, I think you need the commercial version of Adobe to save such filled forms.

It was done with Open Office but not sure how he did it. I believe he created the form in OOWriter but then saved it as an editible PDF file. I can figure out how to create the form but can't seem to get it to the editible PDF stage. We want to save the document but only allow people to fill in the required information, print off the form and close it without saving the information they entered. Thanks. Mary

For editable forms, you've to insert text fields. See View>Toolbars>Form controls.
