Need help something wrong with DOC. file!!!

I have been writing a book on this program for a good while now, but when I had and unexpected power off on my CPU the next time i got on the words in my file was made purely of ########## that's it!!! PLEASE help, I do have a back up, but this backup does not have a lot of the work i did on it! I really need this back! Any help would be AWESOME!

Check the temporary folder of the system (see in OO Tools>Options>OO>Paths). If there are folders like sgmlf.tmp with a file having the same name inside, make a copy of that file, rename it in .odt and cross your fingers.

Do you really use version 3.1? This is an old one.
Also work in native ODF (.odt), you'll have better chance of recovery (instead of .doc).
Make sure you have also activated the backup copy in the save settings.
AOO 4.1.7 on Xubuntu 20.04 and 4.1.5 on Windows 10 (with winPenPack port).

LO 6.4.4.2, Windows 10 Home 64 bit

Remember: Always save your Writer files as .odt files. - see here for the many reasons why.

I am very thankful for all of your help, but there seems to be nothing that will work :( thanks anyway, but i have alot of work to do on my book...I need to catch up.

If you find any other fix, let me know.

Always work in odt files and never in doc files - odt are much more robust.
