[Issue] Writer doesn't display images in docx file textbox

Hello!

I have just installed OpenOfficeO 4.1.0. and I'm a first time user. Since installing it I have noticed that when I open any .doc or .docx documents no images are displayed. I have looked around on the forum at some of the older threads about this problem but they haven't helped me at all. The document is attached. In the document the blank spaces that are shown should contain the images.

The docx file contains three images but Writer does not seem to know they are there when I open Navigator, nor does it display them. When I open the file with the Microsoft Word Viewer they are displayed. I often receive docx files with images which display so this is strange - was the file created with MS Word?

This looks like an issue to me - it would be worthwhile reporting it at https://issues.apache.org/ooo/.

(A tip. Keep your post as short and concise as possible - something like "There are three images in the attached file which Writer 4.1.0 does not display. They are displayed in Microsoft Word Viewer11.8411.8405 SP3)

I did a bit more digging.

I think the reason the images don't show is because they are inside Textboxes (drawing items) and Writer fails to recognise Textboxes - see Textbox, and text in it, in docx file not recognised by OOo.

There are 27 occurrences of Textbox items like the following in the document.xml file.

LibreOffice at least shows that there are objects there, formatted as OLE, but doesn't display the contents. I edited the subject title, tagging as issue will follow when there's a link to an issue report.

Thank you so much for the feedback so far! And for the detail reply. I do believe that the original document was originally created in MS Word. I will definitely report this issue! Just a quick question though, should I set the component as 'viewing' when reporting it?

I think that DOCX: Textbox disappears (117910) is the same fault.

I would therefore suggest that you added a comment confirming that you have the same problem, and post your docx file using the Add an attachment link, and include a link back to this thread.
