Relative path for DDE link in Writer error

Postby kamp0002 » Mon Jan 20, 2014 11:32 pm

I have many dde links in my writer document to a calc document.

I am looking to make the paths relative but no matter what I try only absolute paths work.

If I do Edit - Fields... - Modify...

no matter what I try to put into the path it always gives a dde link for soffice not available error.

tried ./ .\ and some others

Any ideas?

Much appreciated

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

Enable option ( > Preferences on a Mac, Tools > Options on other platforms) Load/Save > General > Save > Save URLs relative to file system. Create the links with an absolute path. During File > Save [As], they should be saved with a relative path. You have some folder which is located at the intersection of the Writer document and the Calc document(s). Test the relative links by coping that folder elsewhere, opening the Writer document there, and testing the links.

If this answered your question please go to your first post use the Edit button and add [Solved] to the start of the title. You can select the green checkmark icon at the same time.

I've used an interesting trick.

I originally had the following code in my pasted DDE cell :
Code: Select all   Expand viewCollapse view

I did create a new stylesheet in my document called "path", (but I could do it in the same stylesheet).
In the first cell I've put the value
Code: Select all   Expand viewCollapse view

Then I changed the value of the DDE pasted cell into :
Code: Select all   Expand viewCollapse view

The pasted value remained unchanged. So IT WORKED !

Well if you have to move your path, you'll still have to change the value of the "$path.$A$1" cell. But it emulated the relative path behaviour.

I hope it helped !!
