I'm a native English speaker who is learning Japanese. My post has some Japanese translations for Japanese readers. Do not be afraid.
I have 2 problems. Please look at the attached file.
1) The "hyphen" in katakana words to elongate the sound (for example, in クラスメート, the line between "メ" and "と") should be standing up like the the letter "l" (lowercase of "L").
2) Small つ、よ、ゆ、や、etc (for example, the "ゅ"and "っ" in しゅっしん) should be placed in the upper right corner of the box, and not in the center.
これらの問題にはどうすれば解決ですか?
(How can we solve these 2 problems?)
Thanks.
JC
P.S.
(Note:
I'm trying to use OO.O writer to produce for me something like the pictures in http://www.mori7.net/gennkou.php. I believe the format is called 原稿用紙 genkou-youshi. I've already have Japanese input working. That's not the problem. And I've got vertical (right-to-left) writing working. I've have the grid showing.I've looked through Oo.o Writer's Format/Page/ [Page] and [Text Grid], but I don't see the answer there.)

Add one more question:
Question 3: How do we add the "period" 「。」 that is found at the end of sentences into a box containing a character? We learned that in the format of vertical writing, if the period would be found at the bottom of the paper, it should be included in the last character of the sentence.

Re: 2 questions re:writing Japanese text vertically
Has this been solved? I have yet to see anything in Open Office concerning writing vertically for Japanese text. The closest thing that comes is a text box which wouldn't work for a full document written vertically.

Thanks! I'm finding I'm liking Open Office more and more over other "office" packages.
