[Solved] Copying footnotes between documents

Postby esteeby » Wed May 28, 2008 7:17 am

I am copying large sections of a document from one open office doc to another, with lots of footnotes included. However, when I paste the sections into the other
document the footnotes don't copy. All that shows up is a number, not in footnote format. Any ideas on how I can get my footnotes to copy?

I'm running Mac OSX.4.11 and OO 2.3

Thanks

I just tried that and it seems to work: insert the document with Insert>File. You'll have to crop your document for each section I guess but it should work.

You can also insert a section where you want the copy to be pasted, in the properties, check the Link option, browse and select your file, select the section if there is one and afterwards, remove that section, it keeps both the text and its footnotes.

Thanks to add '[Solved]' at beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.

This sounds like you're pasting as plain text. Is other formatting being copied — bold, italics, etc.?

Try Paste Special, Formatted text. Footnotes definitely should be copied, though perhaps the MAC version is different to the Windows version.

I hadn't tested that mere CTRL+C / CTRL+V, and it works just fine!!!

If I paste special and select formatted text, it works!
Thanks for your help!
