Re: Writing arabic on Open Office Mac
I have never used Arabic, so my knowledge is limited, but have you checked the settings in
Preferences /OpenOffice /Options /Language settings /Languages?
I can go no further than to point you to that area, which may lead you to a resolution sooner than waiting for someone with exact knowledge of settings for Arabic to come online.

Re: Writing arabic on Open Office Mac
Thank you for your quick answer. CTL is activated for arabic(egyptian)
Which should normaly do it, but nothing changed,
letters still do not connect. as they dont connect using word.
they do using rtf-text

Can you upload a sample file so that we check (see How to attach a document here)?
LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE Faye) and 24.8 portable on Windows 11.

Re: Writing Arabic on OpenOffice Mac
I've no experience with Arabic language. Here is what I get with AOO and your PDF. I would say that the AOO rendering seems correct. If so, it may be a problem with your Mac configuration.
LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE Faye) and 24.8 portable on Windows 11.
Re: Writing Arabic on OpenOffice Mac
I am seeing the same result as Hagar has shown. It may be a MAC peculiarity or perhaps you should try resetting the user profile
LibreOffice 7.3.7. 2; Ubuntu 22.04
Re: Writing Arabic on OpenOffice Mac
It renders correctly on my Mac after enabling Eastern Asian and Bi-directional writing.

Re: Writing Arabic on OpenOffice Mac
I followed every hint here - new user profil etc etc. Open Office still doesnt do it. And Microsoft Word neither. No connection between the letters.
NeoOffice does, but i dont like working with it.
And the RTF reader does as well, but well, i cant work with it.
