Word Perfect 12 document opening

How can I open my old Word Perfect 12 files in Open Office? When I attempt to do so I get an O.O. note asking for character format which I cannot work past.

Hi and welcome to the forum!
The Word perfect filters were removed because of licensing issues. See this discussion

FWIW - Whomever updates the OpenOffice wiki ought to correct
this page while adding a link to the problem's solution using
LibreOffice.
