Hierarchical Numbering of Headers

Post by dieterrath »

I am using W2000, OO 2.3 and the most recent Users Guide. And I am writing rather simple documents.
I don't succeed to get a proper automatical hierarchical numbering of indented chapters in my document.
I worked with outline numbering, defined the header formats nbr. 1 to 4 to be assigned to levels 1 to 4 of the outline.
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
chapter 2.1
chapter 2.2
Chapter 3
chapter 3.1
The numbering is OK with the first two Chapters, they get the numbers 1 and 2. But as soon as I indent some subchapters, the Chapter 3 starts with number 1 again, but curiously enough, subchapter 3.1 continues with the numbering of the previous subchapters and gets the number 3 instead of 1.
I appreciate your help, Thank you, Dieter

Can you attach a dummy file ?
Usually, it's linked to the use of the Bullets/Numbering button in the toolbar. In this case, you've to clear that formatting :
- In the Find & Replace dialog, search for your heading style (More options button)
- Find All to select a whole level (all headings of that level) at once
- Apply the Default Formatting (Format>Default Formatting, or Ctrl+Shift+Space)
- Click on the bullet/numbering icon in toolbar until the context toolbar for bullets/numbering disappears
- Apply again the Heading style.
