[Solved] How to double space text?

I think the Writer application needs a feature that allows you to double space lines like you can in Microsoft Office.

In school, I have to write papers and stuff for English class and I use OpenOffice at home to finish the paper, but them I have to save the file as a .doc file just so I can double space the feature.

If you add the double space feature, I will use OpenOffice all the time! :D

Open Indents and Spacing Tab for the paragraph style you use and set Line Spacing to Double. There may also be a keyboard shortcut, but if there is, I don't know it.

Anyone who reads this post, and does not know where the Double Space feature is, you have to select the text you want to double space and Right-Click>Line Spacing>Double. This is in OOo 3.3 but I do not know if it is in other versions or not.

Not the best way to do it. Using Paragraph styles you can have it done automatically, if there are any changes need then a simple change in the style settings changes everything. With manual formatting you will have to make the changes manually as well.

Well. I don't really need it that much. I just use it when I finish typing my paper. But I also temporarily (unless you save it) used it to where it will double space even though you finish the line or press "Enter" key. I guess different people have different ways to use double spacing.

It make _much_ more sense to become familiar with Styles. For example, I can take the entire text of a book (I often use War and Peace as an example), spend about 10 minutes assigning styles for (inter alia) Chapter Headings, preliminary pages and body text. Within the twinkling of an eye I can dramatically reformat the entire work both in typeface, layout and page size. Anything I write uses a small number of customised styles and at any stage of writing can give an almost final printout.

Better yet, go the the http://www.oooauthors.org/english/userg ... /WG3_index web page. Download the ODT version of chapter 6 and 7, Introduction to Styles and Working with Styles. The information is useful but you can see the styles actually used within the documents.
