Hallo.

I am looking for a function to insert a text box but I cannot find something like that. How can I display a text independend from the text flow?

I hope someone may help me.

Best regards,

There are two kinds of text box in Writer--which is best depends on what you need to do.

Text "frame"s are best if you need the content of the box to match the formatting of your running text. Insert > Frame.

Graphics "text box"es are best if you need some special graphics function (rotation is the main one): View > Toolbars > Drawing, then click the "T" button. You can also use the "Drawing functions On/Off" button on the main toolbar.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

2 solutions:
- A Frame (menu Insert>Frame)
- A Draw text box (activated the Draw toolbar - the pencil button - and then the text box button).

Frames cannot be grouped (text boxes can) but the have properties (borders, paragraph style, ...) that can be useful if you want later to change the formatting of all the frames at once.

Thanks to add '[Solved]' at beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.
