[Solved] How to disable Word Wrap

Postby Twizzler » Wed Jul 14, 2010 2:28 am

Hello- Can someone help me in getting text NOT to wrap in Writer. I tried Format>Wrap and tried to turn it off but everything was grayed out. I have long strings of text I need to stay all on one line. Any Ideas??

Format > Wrap controls how text wraps around images or graphics; nothing to do with word wrap, I'm afraid.

If your long strings of text are wider than will fit on a page, what exactly would you like Writer to do with them?

I'm afraid your only options are to either use a smaller font or a wider page.

If I need more width, I usually just switch to landscape--that way I can still print the document easily if I need to; Format > Page > Page > Orientation: Landscape.

Hi Acknak- I just increased the page size from the standard 8 1/2" to a larger size which worked well for me as I have no need to print. Thanks for your help. :-)

This has the effect of making your document less legible. A useful rule of thumb suggests that optimum line length is between 2 and 3 times the A-Z length of the font in use.
