Document Converter doesn't display completely

I have a couple of templates created in MS Office, and I opened the Document Converter in Writer (Office 2.3 on Ubuntu 7.10). But only the top left corner of the converter box displays, and there are no "handles" to stretch the dialogue box when I move the cursor to the edge of the box. On right-click, both minimize and maximize are greyed out, the only option is "move".

Is there a way round this?

The Ubuntu builts are known to have strange bugs. I use to replace distributo's OOo builts with the original version by Sun (+Sun Java).
