[Solved] How I Scan documents into OOo

Post by bobtheway »

With MS Office I could scan a document with my Lexmark AllInOne X7350 and export it directly into MS Word. Now that I uninstalled MS Office and replaced it by Ooo the Lexmark software was not recognizing the document anymore . After figuring out a way to do it I decided to share the information as I could read that some of you experienced the same problem. This solution may also apply on other models of scanners.

On the Lexmark CD, install the Business tools which will install an OCR program. (You may also find a free OCR program on the net) Once installed start your scanning software (Lexmark Productivity Suite) choose to scan OCR document. Add Ooo Swriter in the program list. Restart the Lexmark software and choose Swriter and then click SCAN DOCUMENT. It will automatically import the document in Swriter. You may need to rearrange the margins and the paragraphs but basically you will get the resilt you are looking for.

Ooo is great...and free
