Can you upload the file (see here: How to attach a document here)?
For complex documents (many fields in tables), the only solution is often... to use MS Office!

Re: How to type in a MS Word legal document
Works perfectly for me with 3.0.1 under W2k. And the display is exactly the same than with MS Word 2003. I'll try this evening on my xubuntu box.
Have you installed OOo with the ppa repositories or from OOo web site? In former case, try the latter, see: [Ubuntu] Installing OOo on Debian and Co.

Re: How to type in a MS Word legal document
I think I see what you mean. Only the second field is correctly designed, all other entries are just sequences of underscores (_____) to show the places. You've to select them by double-clicking them and then enter your data and use the TAB or space to get approximately the next field position if on the same line.

Re: How to type in a MS Word legal document
You get the same behaviour if you open it in Word 2003. The layout is using underscore characters, so everything that you type pushes everything else to the right. You could try hitting your Insert key to move into overwrite mode - then what you type will replace what is already there. All in all it's not a well designed form.
