[Solved] Show Editing Changes

Post by Larry1700 »

does Open Office have a feature (like MS Word) where I can show the editing changes I've made? I mean a "bubble" shows up in the margin when I can write comments, show edits, etc? Thank you.

Yes it has.
Edit > Track changes.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the *EDIT button if your issue has been fixed.

Yes, wording is slightly different with LibreOffice.
As said by RoryOF, the comments is a different feature. Same in MS Word BTW.

Be aware there is a serious bug in AOO which corrupts files using tracked changes and/or comments - see many posts like Error in Sub-document content.xml. One way to cause the problem is
  • use AOO Writer
  • you have Edit > Record changes ..., set to ON
  • you delete a range of text which includes two or more "comments each of which is attached to a range of text"
Deleting this text corrupts the file
Deleting this text corrupts the file
See Issue 128356 - Track Changes and Annotations on text range can cause corruption. Applies to 4.x (all versions?)

LibreOffice does not have the bug. If you use comments or tracked changes, I strongly recommend you swap to LibreOffice.

Remember: Always save your Writer files as .odt files. - see here for the many reasons why.
