[Solved] Inserting in front of Table of Contents when it is

Post by jmucchiello »

I have a large document with a Table of Contents field and it is formatted and setup exactly how I want it.

It is also there very first thing in the file. Now I want to put a page in front of it. But I can't insert anything in front of the ToC title element.

I don't want to delete it and have to figure out all the settings again. How do I insert even a paragraph in front of it? Almost the entire edit menu is greyed out when I try to hit shift insert. Right click only gives context for the ToC field. So paste is not available. Etc.

With protect contents, nothing happens at all
With protect off, the size of the title increases in size to encompass the extra line break.

Also, I misspoke. This isn't a "field". This is from Menu|Insert|Indexes and Tables...

Alt + enter

Never mind, doesn't work either.

Turn off protection, go to start of index
Alt + enter (adds greyed paragraph)
go up to the start of that and do another alt + enter (adds normal paragraph)
back to original start of index and backspace to delete added greyed para
turn on protection again.

Two alt+enters in a row seemed to do the trick. (One seemed to do the trick until I did an update on the index and it all reverted back.)

Thanks.
