Such files are written using a recent version of LibreOffice, which uses ODF format v1.3; I have not yet found any such file that did not open correctly in OpenOffice. I can't tell you how to avoid that message.

I've never seen such message when opening a .doc.
Since .doc is poorly documented, a change in the AOO import filter may trigger such message now.
Please note that the .doc is now deprecated, the current "standard" file format for MS Office is .docx.

Sounds trivial but we don't see the extension in your video or screenshot: is it really a .doc?

They are not .doc files, they are .odt (OpenDocument Text). If not made by LibreOffice with ODF 1.3, then check the settings in MS Word when saving, there may be an option to select the ODF version to be used.

As shown below from the meta file (I just checked the coehlo file), it comes from LibreOffice 7.0.4.2 and it is in ODF 1.3.

LibreOffice 7.0.4.2 was also the information I discovered.

The question arises: what version of a program are you using to open these files? It will be given in /Help /About. In your Forum .sig you list OpenOffice 4.4.10 - there is no such version.

See [Tutorial] Differences between Microsoft and AOO/LO files for a description of differences. It says:

Difference between AOO and LO files as of LO V7

AOO uses Version 1.2 Extended of the ODF Format - check by Tools > Options > Load/Save > General.

By default, LibreOffice V7 and later use Version 1.3 Extended of the ODF Format though they can be set to write 1.2.

1.3 has added function compared with 1.2 and, when AOO opens a version 1.3 file, AOO shows an error message asking for an upgrade but no upgrade is possible (v4.1.10). The file opens but only those items complying to 1.2 Extended are available.

ODF 1.3 is an OASIS Standard says
The most important new features of ODF 1.3 are digital signatures for documents and OpenPGP-based encryption of XML documents, with improvements in areas such as change tracking and document security, additional details in the description of elements in first pages, text, numbers and charts, and other timely improvements. The development of ODF 1.3 features has been funded by donations to The Document Foundation.
See Comparison of ODF software for a comparison of several different file formats.

Showing that a problem has been solved helps others searching so, if your problem is now solved, please view your first post in this thread and click the Edit button (top right in the post) and add [Solved] in front of the subject.

So, we not have solution.

Is only click in upgrade, and upgrade not exist.

or save all files in format compatible.

I think is only coding to not show all time or 2 times to same file, only suggestion...

The solution is ttat you download and use LibreOffice, which made the files and which should open them without the message. As I explained in my earlier message, LibreOffice uses ODF v1.3, whereas OpenOffice currently uses ODF v 1.2.

LibreOffice is what made the files, and will give the most accurate results. If you don't want to use it, that is your decision. I doubt that the converter you indicate will be able to convert any of the new v1.3 additions to the ODF standard. If not, OpenOffice will do just as well.

1. LO wrote the files using 1.3 Extended
2. The LO user may or may not have used function which requires 1.3 - they may just have used 1.2 function. No-one knows ...
3. AOO gives an error message when opening a 1.3 Extended file just because it is a 1.3 Extended file, and not because of what is in it.
4. AOO does not have a method of upgrading to be able to read 1.3 Extended files.
5. If the LO user did not use 1.3 Extended data, the file should open in AOO without data loss, ignoring things like LO Textbox.
6. Any content in the file not supported by AOO will be lost when opened and saved by AOO.

You have the facts to make your decision.

As far as I know, the ability to sign documents is the only new feature in ODF 1.3.
It is very unlikely that you miss anything when you open ODF 1.3. with OpenOffice.
You should replace OpenOffice with LibreOffice anyway. Sooner or later OpenOffice will pass away.
