Sub-paragraph word wrapping

Post by William »

Win XP SP2 OO 2.3.1

I'm using an OCR program to convert a family genealogy book to text. I am using paragraph styles to format the text. The parents
info starts at the left margin with a person number then a tab to the fathers name with text following from margin to margin. The Text for children is as follows:
left margin=person number
tab1=number within family
tab2=childs name followed by text which wraps to left margin. How can I get this to wrap to tab2?

Thanks

Tables are usually much more suitable for this kind of complex text layout. Just turn off the table borders.

Wrapping the text to tab2 just requires a hanging indent. Right-click a child's paragraph and select Edit Paragraph Style. On the Paragraph Style dialog, select the Indents & Spacing tab. Set the Indent/Before text to a value equal to the tab2 setting. Set the Indent/First line to the negative of that value. The first line will then start at the margin and subsequent lines will be indented to tab2.
