Your only hope is to remember it - the passwording encryption is effectively unbreakable.

Search the forum with password for some hints and tools to help your guesses.

Also Google for password manager. I use KeePass to store over 500 passwords every one of which is different to the others and of the form *+%5fPgB%*((-7hLD5

It might not be unbreakable if its an easy password you've forgotten... a dictionary word or something. Know nothing about breaking them though...

Try your usual passwords, and be aware that passwords are case sensitive.

Over the years on Forum I have seen so many problems with passwords and resulting lost files that I never recommend anyone to password a file. If security is important I suggest keeping the file on a USB key, which one keeps with one. But do not work directly to the USB key - copy the file to the local disk drive, edit, then recopy to the USB key, and check that there is no backup stored on the computer. This solution will not satisfy the ultimately paranoid.

Rory

Password Managers are magic. Although I have about 500 unique, uncrackable passwords Idon't know any of them. I just remember my master password to get access to them.

I have the file synced across all my PSs and to my phone so I am never at a loss for a password.

I have never list a password in twenty years or more.

Do I detect another Bitwarden user amongst us? Who uses it to list their passwords so they don't get lost :-)
