[Solved] Inserting Image Into Table

Post by gailbraithe »

I am attempting to insert an image into a table, but the image is forcing a carriage return, such that the border of the cell doesn't cling to the image due to this line.

How do I get rid of this? Is it possible?

I can't say for certain if it is possible to remove the unwanted line, but if you highlight it, you can reduce it to 2pt (minimum allowed) and adjust also the line spacing on the Indents and Spacing tab.

Yes, I've used that "solution," but it's an ugly kludge and I'd really like to have no space between the image and the cell border.

Change the anchor from "to paragraph" into "as character". Then the space under the image will be diminished...

Hint:
Always show Nonprinting Characters ¶ for better checking one's problems.

This is what it looks like when I Anchor As Character and have non-printing characters visible. I had to expand the width of the cell so you could actually see the paragraph mark.

It's a table - stupid.

OpenOffice
  • Anchor image as character
  • cut out to clipboard
  • insert from clipboard: spaces around will be diminished (quick method)
    or
save file and close it and open it again (traditional and secure method) :ucrazy:
LibreOffice 7.x
  • Anchor image as character - that's it!
In LibreOffice /7.x/ 7.1.x you can customize anchoring of images as character as default (menu extras | options | Writer | formatting aids | image).

May be no surprise for you: That was a main point for me to swap from OpenOffice to LibreOffice. ;)

Thanks to @HagarDelest for clarification!

Check also the paragraph settings of the table cell: Indents & Spacing tab and the option Spacing. The field Below paragraph may have a value different from 0.

From LO 7.1 only, it is not available in 7.0.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the *EDIT button if your issue has been fixed.

Right-click the row and select Row > Height. Set the row height and uncheck "Fit to size". You might also want to click the picture then select Format > Picture > Options and check the Protect options. That prevents accidentally moving the picture by dragging it with the mouse.
