Thanks in advance.

Re: unwanted horizontal lines
It is hard to say what that line is from looking at an image. It might be a section boundary. Can you upload a document that has the problem? To do that, click PostReply and look for the Upload Attachment tab just below the box where you type a response.
When do these lines appear?

Re: unwanted horizontal lines
[When do these lines appear?]
Sometimes when typing a line of hyphens and pressing enter will create the line.
Thanks for the help.

Re: unwanted horizontal lines
The lines are paragraph borders that are automatically made when you enter a line consisting of only several dashes. Entering pound signs and underscores will also make a border. To get rid of the border, first turn on the menu item View -> Nonprinting Characters so you can see where the paragraph marks are. Right click on the paragraph above the border and select Paragraph from the menu that appears. On the Borders tab, click the No Borders button, which I have highlighted with a red square in the attached file. This may cause the border to move up to the next paragraph if you have made sequential paragraphs with borders. If so, repeat the process.

Re: Unwanted horizontal lines
Merely hitting Ctrl+M also can work.
See if that helps: [Tutorial] Automatic functions in Writer - enable / disable.
Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the *EDIT button if your issue has been fixed.

Re: Unwanted horizontal lines
JFCC, Thanks for the reply. Making progress.
No borders fix brings about mixed results.
Sometimes the lines go away other times lines move up.
Highlight paragraph above & chased a line 10-15 times still get same move up.
In another reply Hagar Delest suggested I use Ctl+M -- seems to work intermittently like No borders.
UPDATE 2021-05-29: Was able to turn off annoying automatic lines -- Tools/AutoCorrect functions & uncheck apply border. Seems to stopped the new lines function.
Still unable to constantly get rid of existing 'border lines'.
In searching documentation found the following "Edit: Dec 2016: There appears to be a problem with AOO 4.1.3 where you cannot remove borders on a selection of paragraphs. You either have to do just one paragraph at a time, or select all the paragraphs in the document. "
Is this still the case or is there a fix?
Thanks...

Re: unwanted horizontal lines
Works sometimes. Do the no borders process works on some paragraph borders not others. Another instance use the "no borders process" and creates a second border AGHHHH!FJCC wrote:The lines are paragraph borders that are automatically made when you enter a line consisting of only several dashes. Is there another level of (paid) support available.
Thanks.
Please advise.

Re: Unwanted horizontal lines
Have you tried the Ctrl + M method that Hagar suggested above?
Can you post the actual document? How large is it?

Re: Unwanted horizontal lines
You have not selected all the text with the borders.
1. Edit > Select All
2. Either
1. Edit > Select All
2. Either
- Ctrl+M ..., to remove all formatting or
- Format > Paragraph > Borders > Default. Click the left icon Set no borders ..., to just remove all borders.

Re: Unwanted horizontal lines
The process works only on the selected paragraphs. It won't work on a paragraph which is not selected. That's how formatting paragraphs works--the change in formatting is only applied to the selected paragraphs.ds947u wrote:Do the no borders process works on some paragraph borders not others.
No, a second border isn't "created". It was already there but just not displayed. One of the border settings for paragraphs is "Merge with next paragraph". When that is enabled and you have multiple consecutive paragraphs with bottom borders, the border will be displayed on the last paragraph but not the preceding paragraphs. Deleting the border from the last consecutive paragraph (which is probably what you did) removes the border from the last paragraph but not from the others. This allows the border on the preceding paragraph to be displayed.ds947u wrote:Another instance use the "no borders process" and creates a second border AGHHHH!
No, but any paid support would tell you the same thing. You have to remove the border from all paragraph which have the border set, not just the ones which have the border visible.ds947u wrote:Is there another level of (paid) support available.
