[Solved] Where did the page breaks go?

Post by iamthewalrus »

I have been getting this problem increasingly later after years using OpenOffice. Suddenly I have lots and lots of documents where the page breaks disappeared! Clearly I have pressed some button without noticing. The weird thing is I search and search and cannot see how to turn them back on ... Yes, you can make custom page breaks but I don't want that. I want the default ones. Very hard working on an 8,000 word document without being able to see how it divides into pages ...

You have possibly selected /View /Web Layout instead of /View /Print layout.

Thanks! You know I have but this is because if I choose print layout I can't read the right hand side of the page ...

Use either /View /Zoom and change the scaling factor, or move the slider on Status bar (at bottom right of OO window) to the left until you get a scale that suits you.

Zoom > Page Width is what I needed! Wow, that was so complex. You can't believe how much time I searched and how many people I asked. You'd think nobody had this problem before. I think the OpenOffice default was different when I updated my Linux at New Year.

Try reading the document I indicated. You will learn much that will simplify your use of OpenOffice.

I will have a look but maybe 'students' can read this document and then remember it all a few months afterwards. I am a little older ...

You could also do with having a version you can download as a pdf to have on hand. I am not always online.
