[Solved] Mutually exclusive checkboxes for survey

Post by Honze7 »

Hello,

I'm trying to create a survey in AOO, to be then exported in PDF format for users to fill out, but I'm having issues with multiple-choice checkboxes:
Is there some way to have mutually exclusive checkboxes, so that only one per row/group can be checked?

At this point, my draft allows for all choices to be checked, and it's wrong. I'll upload the file that's giving me issues.
I've seen some posts advising to use option boxes instead of checkboxes, but I'm not sure if that changes anything.

Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

A group of mutually exclusive buttons is a group of equally named radio buttons (aka "option buttons").
RIght-click > Replace With > Radio Button
Ctrl+Shift+Click a group
Right-click > Control ...
Enter the same control name for the selected group.

Thanks, that solved it; I'll replace the old checkboxes and create specific groups, then.
While at it, I was looking for some way to resize the button or change its shape, but I guess it's not possible for AOO writer? Can you confirm this?

Only the text label and the letters (the font) of the text are resizeable, but the graphic ("dot") is not. If you want to increase the clickable area, then use larger letters, and/or a longer text.

If you drag the buttons wider and use their labels, you can also click on the label areas.
The tab key jumps to the next group (Shift+Tab backwards) and the arrow keys select items within the selected group.
