[Solved] A Very Long Page Required
[Solved] A Very Long Page Required
I would like a page length of 350 cm (for photos and print) and I can't see a 'paper' length that long to create a template. User only allows a length of 300 cm. The only solution I've found is to send one page 300 cm long and the second 300 cm page will have only 50 cm used. Seems a waste of 'paper'! thanks for any help you can provide. Woodchip

Re: A VeryLong Page Required
The Apache OpenOffice Draw application can handle max. 3000 mm x 3000 mm Custom page size.
But the LibreOffice Draw (and the Writer) can handle larger pages too (max. 6000 mm x 6000 mm).

Re: A VeryLong Page Required
Which is 300 cm, the same limitation as in Writer. Maybe you could try splitting your document over two pages of 175 cm? Assuming of course that your printer can handle the size of paper you want; and remember that you also need to set the paper size from the printer dialog when you print the document.Zizi64 wrote:The Draw application can handle a 3000 mm x 3000 mm Custom page size.

Re: A VeryLong Page Required
In OpenOffice, although one can set a 300 x 300 cm page, Writer can only set text to about 68cm (some internal limit). Anything more than that needs Draw to be used.

Re: A Very Long Page Required
300 cm height is limited by user's interface (precisely: by the page style modification dialogue), not by Writer engine itself.
Some time ago, in 2014, I showed how to produce PDF with pages of height 1200 cm or anything else. Here's the link: https://forum.openoffice.org/pl/forum/v ... 57&p=11359
Main text was in Polish – sorry, but the clue was manual change in style.xml file which is language independent. In the further discussion a Basic script was provided that adjusted page height to place document content on a single page. Style modification dialog should never be opened in this document, at least for page styles.
I hope the same or similar methods can be applied successfully today.

Re: A Very Long Page Required
IrfanView allows you to create a panorama image where you stitch together multiple images in a horizontal or vertical direction, with or without gaps.
Edit: I have just done a test adding 75 x 1.5 MB jpg images to IV. IV created an image 160,000 pixels high using about 1.3 GB of memory. When I tried to save it as a JPG I ran into a maximum pixel count of just over 65,500 pixels so I resampled it to 64,000 pixels high - each image was then 1,138 pixels wide. IV/MS PDF printer saved it successfully as a 17 MB PDF. |

As a matter of interest what are you printing it on? Can you use two pages 175cm high?woodchip wrote:The only solution I've found is to send one page 300 cm long and the second 300 cm page will have only 50 cm used. Seems a waste of 'paper'!
