(Open Office 4.1.7 on Windows 10 Same Issue on multiple computers)
(Trying to create a fillable form that I can change to a pdf)
What I am doing:
I insert the text boxes using the form control toolbar, turn design mode off, and save.
The text boxes all change alignment vertically. They were inserted to center vertically with the text outside the box, but after saving and re-opening they all are moved down, with the top of the box aligned with the bottom of the text outside the box.
I have tried:
right clicking the text box, highlighting alignment, clicking center.
But every time I save and shut down the file, the boxes all move back down again.
It would be nice to find an option to format them all at once.

Re: Help Positioning Text Boxes, moving when closing file
What file type are you using?
Always use the native, international standard ODF file formats.

Re: Help Positioning Text Boxes, moving when closing file
I can confirm that the text boxes do move when saving in .doc format with AOO 4.1.7 or LO 7.0.2.2. The text boxes do not move when saving in the native .odt format.
If you select "Position and Size" instead of "Alignment", there is an option to protect the Position and Size, but that does not work when saving in the .doc format.rmaccrea1 wrote:I have tried:

See [Tutorial] Differences between Writer and MS Word files for a description of differences and for why you should always work in, and save Writer files as .odt, Calc files as .ods, Impress files as .odp etc.
LO 6.4.4.2, Windows 10 Home 64 bit
See the Writer Guide, the Writer FAQ, the Writer Tutorials and Writer for students.
Remember: Always save your Writer files as .odt files. - see here for the many reasons why.

Appreciate the help very much. Editing works MUCH better in .odt .
