How do I stop inserted images appearing on all pages

If you are referring to Writer, it may be that you have inserted the image(s) into a header or footer, which will show them on every page that has header or footer active. You need to put them in the main part of the page.

If you turn on View | Text Boundaries you'll be able to see the location of any header/footer in the document.
