[Solved] Unable to find & replace non-printing character ¶

Post by companionrecords »

Running MacOS 10.13.6 on a MacBook Pro
Version OpenOffice 4.1.7

Hello, I have a 20 documents filled with the character "¶" each followed by line breaks. I am hoping to remove these characters and replace with each with a space. [see attached image]

When I perform a search I am unable to find this character. [see attached image]

I have read through multiple posts on this forum, followed all advise but somehow still cannot perform this function. Can anyone here help me with this? Thank you very much. -Will

Please note: I very rarely use typing programs and I am a true newbie to the formatting world so I am not 100% sure that I am using the correct terminology above.

Wow, thank you. It appears I am one step closer.

However the document now shows dots in between each word and I am unsure what character this dot is or how to search for it. [see attached screenshot]

Feeling optimistic for first time in a week :)

Uncheck /View /non printing characters and the display will go away.
