Numbering successive pages in NeoOffice

I'm endeavouring to divorce to divorce myself from MS Word. There's lots of issues here so I'll be asking many questions on this forum.
#1: I've copied a 5 page document from a website. I want to insert page numbers. Stuffed if I can find how to do this, I've looked thru the menu bar till I'm 'blue in the face' without any success. Page numbers are listed under the 'Fields' icon but after selected, no numbers appear except the words PAGE NUMBERS.
My MacBook Air is running Catalina OS 10.15.7, the newest update.
Anyone got any clues ?

If after inserting a Field for Page Numbers, that is what you get, you need to toggle /View /Field Names.

It will help to read some instructions.

Learn how to use Help. Searching for "Page Numbers" in Help doesn't display an answer immediately, but double-clicking "inserting/defining/formatting" opens the Page Numbers page of Help. Right under the instructions for inserting a page number appears "If you see the text 'Page number' instead of the number, choose View - Field names."
