Welcome to the Forums.
Is the file a list of passwords, a password protected file, or both?
Do you have the problem with any other files?

Also please check and confirm or correct your operating system information, as MacOS 10.4 is 15 years old and NeoOffice 2.2.3 is 12 years old.
If that information is accurate, I'd like to suggest you consider upgrading.
If it isn't, please follow this link and edit your forum signature to reflect your actual OS and office version.

I have two Macs, One Imac and Macbook Air, both are kept at the latest operating system. this one is 10.15.6 and is getting the latest upgrade now.

The file is a list of passwords and websites and it is password protected

Can you please make a sample file and upload it in .odt form and in .pdf form, if that shows as black.
Edit: Also, what printer(s) is in use?

Have you checked the background settings for page, paragraph, etc?

I can't find where the Page, Paragraph Background settings are? the black printing is only on this file which is a PW protected file with passwords and web page information. I had it turned off at one time and printed it then in came back on. Page shows total black except some faint blue lettering. I tried saving without a PW but it didn't help.??

After you made the Area/Background modifications, did you Save the document? If not, the changes will not have been recorded permanently.
