[Solved] Text lines are Overwriting Margins

Postby OfficeIssues055 » Mon May 18, 2020 5:32 am

Certain text lines are overwriting left, right, and top margins. What I mean by “overwrite” is that parts of the vertical margin line become blank after you put text on a text line that’s right next to any part of the vertical line. I think I enabled some kinda dumb option that does that but I’m not sure what that option is. Please help because the blank spaces in the margin line are bugging me.

Here's the file thing. The content of the document itself is part of a larger document. The larger document is a novel that I'm writing, everything in it is fictitious and is written from the perspective of a fictional character.

I just set the Default paragraph Style to 14 pts size Verdana font, and then I deleted all manual (direct) formatting properties by Ctrl-A/ Ctrl-M from the sample document. The issue not appeared then.

There is in something wrong setting in the manual formatting of the paragraphs, what i can not find.

Use the Styles instead of the manual formatting.

You don't need any Fill set in the Paragraph Style used (Default).

You will find much helpful information of formatting in
Writer for students (several languages)
Apache OpenOffice 4.1.7 on Xubuntu 20.04.1 (mostly 64 bit version) and very infrequently on Win2K/XP

Ahhh, yes: the paragraph background color (white) was the reason...

It's also the character background. In the first paragraph, the paragraph style background and paragraph background are "No Fill". It's only the character background that is "White".
