Document font suddenly shrinks to unreadable size

I have tried everything I can think of including deleting and reinstalling OO. However, it keeps shrinking the font on newly created documents to tiny font size and nothing fixes it except setting the type to a huge size. Then it is visible on screen, but unprintable.

I selected the menu View -> Zoom and set the zoom to 100%. The document looks fine with that setting.

Or use the slider on the right hand side of the status bar to set it to 100%
