I have difficulty reading the text on my screen. The print seems unduly small; this text, for example, is "huge." in fact, the size seems less than 14.

How do I set the default setting to be larger?

If you are having this trouble with Writer, check the setting in the menu item View -> Zoom. It should be close to 100%.
