[Solved] Table Grid Lines Missing In Columns

Postby catkin18 » Wed Apr 01, 2020 6:39 pm

I am very frustrated. I had a Word document converted into an OO text document and the formatting got destroyed. It was a weather table, a TABLE within Writer, I guess, with a grid of 6 columns (temperature and precip, etc) and 31 rows for the day of the month. I put it mostly back together after a few hours. HOWEVER, in recreating it, I lost the row grid lines in the rightmost, recreated 3 columns. They are devoid of row lines. The first three columns do have their row borders neatly. My question is how can I get the row lines to "populate" the remaining three blank columns (aligning with the first three columns' row lines!) so I can have all the data in their proper boxes? It just needs to look like a 6x31 grid for penciled-in data entry again.Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

The .doc/.docx format at has not been designed to be interoperable with anything else than MS Office.
If you need to use those formats, then stick to MS Office. Welcome to the vendor lock-in policy.

If you switch to AOO, then save in the native ODF format (.odt).
AOO 4.1.7 on Xubuntu 20.04 and 4.1.5 on Windows 10 (with winPenPack port).

It is an AOO document now.

But once you've redone the formatting, it should be kept.
Do you still see issues once you use ODF (.odt)?

You should upload a sample file to show what you want exactly (see: How to attach a document here).

OK, got it.
You have to insert new columns left of a column that has the lines. Then copy/paste the column titles in the correct column and delete the columns without lines.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the *EDIT button if your issue has been fixed.

[Solved] Thank you for that workaround. I guess if I spent another hour, I could have figured that out. I really appreciate it.
