I use tables in some of my office templates for faxes, etc. I have been going through and converting my Word templates into OOo and came across something that I am not sure if there is another way of doing it... I have been using OOo 3.0 rc2 to do this. My office is all Word and I am planning on transitioning over when the new release comes out.
I had merged cells in a table in the Writer document. It appears that the only option is to split the cells to unmerge them. That only gives you the ability to specify a quantity of cells to split into. Some of my column widths are different so I then have to manually go and realign the columns to match the rows above and below.
In Calc, when you split the cells it maintains the column width that is already set. Is there a way to do this in Writer that I am missing?
Thanks.

Re: Unmerging Cells In a Table In Writer
Calc must keep the column structure since the elementary item in a spreadsheet is a cell, that is a place located by a column number and a row number.
Writer doesn't have such concept because it's designed to handle text. Tables in text have to be more flexible to allow complex layouts.

It would be nice to have that option to simply restore to the table lines as a toggle option... I guess I am just lazy.
Not sure if this is the forum to request these kinds of enhancements.

You can ask for it: [Tutorial] Reporting bugs or suggestions (perhaps it has already been asked).

It says it is assigned to the "requirements"... Not sure if that means they will be addressing it.Hagar de l'Est wrote:you should post the url here so that interested users can vote.
