Save paper tray setting

Postby jmarcv » Wed Feb 26, 2020 7:04 pm

I have preset labels and I want paper tray setting to manual feed. In Format->Page the paper tray setting is always [From printer settings] whether I save it in doc or ODT format, and regardless of the settings in Tools->Options->Load/Save/General.

If I save it as a template the setting will stick.
Sure sounds like a bug to me. Or is it an inconvenient 'feature'?
or..... am I missing something?

"Are you missing something?" you ask. Possibly. In /File /Print, press the Properties button, and select the tray needed from these low-level printer settings.
Apache OpenOffice 4.1.7 on Xubuntu 18.04.4 (mostly 64 bit version) and very infrequently on Win2K/XP

No, I am missing that. If I save tray settings in Page Setup, I expect them to be saved. It is counter intuitive and a nuisance otherwise.
Since this post, I found the setting. Again, very unintuitive. I found in Tools->Options there is a 'Print' dialogue in 'OpenOffice Writer'
You must check "Paper tray from printer settings" which is backwards.
