Table of contents causes the document to collapse to 1 page

Postby deltareum » Sat Feb 15, 2020 4:19 pm

I am working on a large document and I need a table of contents that links to the actual headings. As soon as I insert the table of contents, all text and images collapse to a single page: 52 pages worth of stuff collapse to one, and all links in the table show page 1 next to them. Why is this happening and how do I avoid it? Thanks.

Can you upload the problematic .odt type document file here?

If the answer is yes, then you should upgrade. AOO 3.4 probably has more bugs than any other version.

I'm afraid I can't. The file contains sensitive information. I'll see if I can replicate the problem on a dummy file.

And I'm using 4.1.3.

Have you by any chance selected /View /Web layout rather that /View /Print layout?

Save a copy of the original, find and select all text body paragraphs, turn on regular expressions in the find dialog, find . (dot) in all selected text body content and replace with X. This should preserve the headers and replace the text between with XXXXX
