[Solved] Snapshot Resizing

I'm piecing together a book of traditional tunes. The only way I've found to do this (not being hugely software literate) is to:

1. Create the score in the music software (Musescore)
2. Export the score as a PDF file.
3. Open the PDF file and take a snapshot of the score.
4. Paste the snapshot into Writer (I've installed 4.1.7)
5. Adjust the snapshot in Writer until it looks reasonable.

---However---

All too frequently, trying to move the snapshot, or adjust the size, Writer decides to take it off the current page and dump it on the previous page, stomping on what's already been done. CTRL Z has become my new best friend.

Any suggestions?

Do you anchor it As character (and not To something else)?
It usually gives better results when the pic is considered as a character.

Note that with a PDF printer like PDFCreator, you can export the pages as .png directly, sparing the hassle of the screenshot.

You might find the extension Songbook Architect useful for what you are trying to do. It is provided by one of the forum members, musikai.

You might save a step by taking a screenshot of the score, rather than making a PDF and then "snapshotting" it.

I don't know how to do that. I use either the paste icon or the CTRL-V to paste, and neither give the option of anchoring it as character. I place the cursor in the next empty space I want to use. and paste it.

I'm not sure PDFCreator would work in the middle of a Musescore program, unless it happens to understand and correctly interpret a .mscz extension.

Making a screen shot adds the additional work of having to crop off all the unneccesary pieces around the score.

Perhaps Songbook Architect would work, but that would entail learning a new software program, along with its necessary add-ons like "Ghostscript," et. al.

My way has been working (mostly) with only the glitches I mention with resizing.

That tutorial helped a lot. Section 12 was good in describing my "symptoms." I couldn't quite glean a best practices for dealing with 15-20 pages each with two to three images (music scores) and no paragraphs to anchor to, but at least I have enough to go on and to handle the hiccups that still happen from time to time.
