Document not automatically focusing to first form

Post by Lukaka »

I have an openoffice writer document with fillable forms. The rest of the document is not editable. I have it set in the forms tab that "Automatic Control Focus" is set to true, however, when opening the document, it remains focused on the beginning of the document, and when a user begins typing it informs them that this section is not editable. How can I force the curser to focus on the first fillable field?

Windows 10
OpenOffice ver 6.3.3.2
File: attached.

thanks in advance.

I've found that it works on my other computer running the same specs, but not only the one I need it to, even after reboot.

Yes, other computers have user data, but the one it is not working on does not have any user data. Should I try entering some in?

I've also tried updating to 6.3.4.2 with no change.

Edit: I tried adding user data with no luck.

Yes, you should enter some user data.

Check that it is the same User data as on the other computer; also, you may need to restart LibreOffice after entering the data, so that it "takes".

I cannot set them to have the same user data as one is a work computer and another is a personal computer.

I also dont see how editing the user data settings would change the functionality of where the curser starts on a document?

When I open your document the focus is in the date field.

For me, with OpenOffice 4.1.7 on Xubuntu 18.04.3, the document opens with the focus in the date field, as it does for Villeroy.

Yes, it works for me on most computers, except on this specific computer it does not, even after reinstalling and rebooting numerous times.

The behaviour depends on a toggle button on toolbar "Form Design". The toggle button is labeled "Automatic Control Focus". The setting is stored in the document. May be the setting changed somehow in the document copy on that computer?

I don't think so, by going into that tab the button is still checked. I've tried unchecking and re-checking it again and again. No luck.

Have you tried older versions of LO? The document opens in the Date box for me when opened with older versions LO 6.1.5.2 and LO 6.3.2.2, but it opens at the beginning of the document when opened with newer version LO 6.3.4.2. The document also opens in the Date box when opened with AOO 4.1.7.

I downloaded the LO 6.3.3.2 AppImage and found that the document also opened at the start of the document when I opened it with LO 6.3.3.2. This looks like a bug to me, but bugs should be expected in an "early adopter" version like 6.3.3.2. The current "stable" version is LO 6.2.8.
