Little Horizontal Lines Appearing

Postby OldWanderer » Wed Sep 13, 2017 11:02 am

Whenever I use the arrow keys to navigate anywhere among the text, it leaves behind little black lines that seem to be measuring or something.

Where is the option to remove this feature? It makes it incredibly annoying to re-read anything and there's so many options to the program I have no idea what controls it.

Arrow keys or the Tab key? Try toggling /View /non printing characters.

The arrow keys. My mistake though, tiny vertical lines is what they are. It's late.

Have you, by any chance, ticks against /Edit /Changes /Record, and /Edit /Changes /Show? If so, and you don't need to track changes, turn off the Record setting by clicking on it.

Other than that I can make no suggestion - I don't use Windows 10.

Edit: the normal insertion cursor, which is moved about by the arrow keys, is a blinking vertical line; this should not leave artefacts behind it. If it does, the video card drivers may need to be updated, or some adjustment made to OO's graphics settings (try turning off either or both of "Use hardware acceleration" and "Use anti-aliasing" in the Graphics output area of /Tools /Options /OpenOffice /View). I would normally restart OpenOffice and the Quickstarter after making any of these adjustments, to be certain they are applied.

Doesn't seem to work, only other thing I notice is that when I change to a different line using the arrow keys, all the little vertical lines it made on the previous line are removed.

Is the text pasted from a Web site?
