Problems with saved document

Post by bwindi »

I was recently working on a word processing document which I had previously saved and reopened multiple times to work on, however when i opened it this time, i get a message asking for ASCII filter option.... i selected western europe windows for character set, times new roman as default font, english as default language, and CR&LF paragraphing, when the document opens the only thing it shows is ##### symbols for everything, this was the only copy of the document and i realllly need to get it back if anybody has any suggestions, thank you so much

Sadly, quite nothing to do, see: 22 pages term paper replaced with pound signs.
Any power shortage for example? It's a common root cause of such problem.

Check the temporary folder of the system (see in OOo Tools>Options>OOo>Paths). If there are folders like sgmlf.tmp with a file having the same name inside, make a copy of that file, rename it in .odt and cross your fingers.

I think there are less reports about such problems, upgrading to AOO 3.4.1 may help.
LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE Faye) and 24.8 portable on Windows 11.
