[Solved] How to open an embedded indd file?

Postby Johnson » Fri Jul 29, 2011 6:58 pm

Hey folks,

not sure if this is a dumb question, but my designer sent me a business card template i want to use in order to have the possibility to change the contact details myself every time i employ someone new or move office etc.

Now, using Libre Ofice (or OO) i can't see the embedded .indd file in the odt.

Is there any plugin or workaround to open such a file in Libe/Open Office??

Thank you all! :D

OOo doesn't install any registry entries in Vista for indd files, so I doubt that OOo can open such files. You probably need to install some other software that can view indd files. I'd Google "indd file viewer" to find one.

Ok, thanks i found an open source "indesign alternative" called Scribus... Seems nice, still struggling to implement Ghostscript, though!

Thanks again.

This, I think, is an Adobe Indesign file. I have never heard of OpenOffice/LibreOffice having an import filter for this.

Personally I would just create a template using or modify one from the template site. Save with information that is fixed and add other information as needed.
