Customer Order Database Template
Is there a template available that is a simple Customer Order Database?
I just want to add customer names and addresses, and then add a list of products to them.
It may get more complex than that, but that is the starting point.

Ciao.
You can use the wizard to create your own table. There are many fields to handle a orders database.

Re: Customer Order Database Template
Thank you for your reply.
However, this is not what I was looking for. I am aware of the wizard, but that would require for me to set up one from scratch, and I don't have the aptitude to do that.
I would like to know if someone has gone through all the wizard stages and already produced a simple database template with customer records and a database of orders (linked in some way to the customer records; relational database?).
I can provide more detail, if required.

If you are looking for a simple work already done, at least provide a list of fields (name) and their type (number, text, date, ...).
It 'a very simple operation.

Re: Customer Order Database Template
What I'm looking for is a ready made database. it doesn't have to be exactly as I want it, as I can modify it to suit my needs.
I know it's simple to someone who has experience in it. I don't
If I had something to work from, ie. a ready made template, which is what I asked for originally, I could build on that.
Does anyone know where I could get one, please?

Look at the Factoor addon. Not updated since 2009, so it may not be compatible with recent versions of Base/Calc. Worth a try.

Re: Customer Order Database Template
Thanks for the reply.
I had a look at Factoor. A bit worried about its compatibility, as it says 50/50 compatible.
It seems to use Calc as well, which suggests it might be a bit too over-complicated for what I want.
I just want a database of customer names and addresses. And then a record of their orders (item, description, price, quantity).
it is theoretically very simple, but not having used Base to any great extent, I don't know where to start.
If I could just get a ready-made database to play with.

Re: Customer Order Database Template
Thank you for the sample.
Having a look at it now.
Where are the customers?
Not sure how the products are selected?
As it happens, I don't need an inventory. I just add the products to the customer order as I go along.

Re: Customer Order Database Template
Now I'm having trouble editing the Orders Form.
I right click then Edit. Then click on the relevant field, but I can't see how to edit the name etc?
I think I need to go away and play with it for a while.

Re: Customer Order Database Template
Note on terminology:
To edit data, you normally Open the form. Double click will do.
If you right click and select Edit, you are in "design mode" where you can change the form layout, field properties, etc. (In this situation there will be a pencil+rulers icon that toggles design mode.)
Similarly, if you "edit" a table, design mode allows you to change the structure of the table: type and names of fields, and constraints/indexing. If you make structural changes, they apply to every record (row) in the table.
Again, if you want to enter data (content) into the table, you need to open the table.
