Printing a Database Table

Post by Spraggon »

I have created a database table of some 5,000 items each divided over six columns. While the table was being prepared it was possible to print it, albeit in landscape format.
Now the icons for 'select all', 'cut', 'copy' and 'paste' at the top of the table are pale and do not work. So too are the 'print to file', 'print preview', and 'print' accessed through 'File'.
I would be very grateful for any help.

I'm not sure why the copy and print options have become inactive for you. There is another way to print your table, though.

First, make sure your database is 'registered': Go to Tools→Options→OpenOffice Base→Databases and check the list on the right side of the pop-up window. If your database is in that list, you're good. If not, click the "New" button, then click "Browse" and select your database file. Then click "OK" and now the database should be in the list.

Next, open a (new) Calc file. Press F4 and a list of all the registered databases will appear at the top of the file. Click on the + signs next to the database you are working with and find your table. Drag and drop the table name into your Calc file.

Now you can print the table data as you would print a normal Calc file. If you want, you can save this file, and when you want an updated copy of the table: select any cell inside the table and then click Data→Refresh Range.
