[Solved] Units for Duration

Post by tobypsl »

I want to store a forecast of the duration of tasks in minutes but not sure which field type to use. Is it best to use a number or to use a time field (it looks as though the time fields refer to actual times not durations).

At some point I will want to be able to calculate time spent in hours on certain classes of activity.
I may also want to add the durations in minutes onto specific stored times which, if I use for example the number type field, would mean mixing two field types.

Example field may contain

Id
Description
Start Date
Start Time
Duration
Estimated Completion - calculated from start time plus duration

[Tutorial] Ten concepts that every Calc user should know
All dates and times are in unit "Days".
Point zero on the time scale is 1899-12-30 00:00:00
Format points on the time scale as HH:MM
Format time spans as [HH]:MM
